Lando and McLaren really nailed it—calm, sharp, and totally in sync, while Max kept the pressure high and showed he’s still a serious force on the track.
Absolutely!! It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds across the season as the McLaren boys will be taking points off each other while Max sneaks up beside them with essentially no in-team competition as it stands.
Hey Keira, Thanks for clearing the air about the McLaren radio situation!
Indeed, a great start to the season for McLaren. I was gutted for Oscar, but he did well to end up in the points. Yeah, once again disastrous and disappointing from Ferrari.. the memes are hilarious sure, but it’s about time they pull it together. My heart broke for Hadjar, hoping next race will be very good for him; and what a class act from Lewis’ dad, it was heartwarming to see! And of course cannot count Max out of the equation because you best believe he’s going to extract everything he possibly can from that car.
Just a little disappointed with the F1 graphics for the season. The timings aren’t being displayed, even the pit stop times aren’t there.😫
Ahh no worries at all! I’ve seen a lot of stuff about it so I thought it would be best to also get some of the actual facts out there! So sad for Oscar but he did have amazing pace overall even in the wet so I think his time is still to come! I think the saddest part about it was that it was his home race:( Yeah, I think Ferrari have all the ingredients to be champions but they just keep making the wrong decisions when it matters most. Until they figure that out, they won’t be able to achieve their goals! The Hadjar situation was heartbreaking but like you say, such class from Anthony Hamilton!! I think there was an issue with the timings as when I was looking at them, on track Max looked like he was closing in on Lando but it had him stuck at like 1.8s away for ages! I think they maybe only got rid of the timings while they fixed the problem as they did come back later in the race. I think I watched the timings more than the cars on those last few laps where Max was catching Lando 😂 Hopefully they will be able to iron out the issues in the next race or so to be more consistent with timings and show pit stop times!
What a start to the season indeed! Happy for Lando and McLaren, although I would have loved to see Oscar up on that podium as well! As for Ferrari, you can tell they're still learning to communicate with one another. SUPER happy for Albon and Williams! I think it says a lot about the changes they've made to the car this season after a race like that. Can't wait to see Carlos finish a race in the Williams car! Also, stellar performance for Kimi, I felt like a proud big sister watching him. Overall, it was such an intense race, but I feel like it was a great way to kick off the season. Looking forward to hearing your insights on future races!
Yeah, such a great race to start the season with! I know a lot of people are disappointed with the race because of their own drivers/teams not doing as well but it was definitely a fab race overall! Such a shame that Oscar couldn’t be up on the podium as he did have an excellent drive, the fact that he still finished in the points after being nearly 1m25s down at one point is wild!! Also really excited to see what Carlos can do in that Williams, he seems really comfortable in the team already so hopefully that will only mean good things! I have the same big sister feeling with most of the rookies, they’re all so talented that I just want them to show that to people hahah. And thank you sm!🥰
Oscar had a mega drive! He really impressed me when he got out of the grass and ended up in the points after everything. McLaren is a force to be reckoned with!
Literally I have no idea how he managed to recover his drive the way he did! It’s so sad that he walked away so sad with the result because the result definitely didn’t reflect his race as a whole!
Gonna play the not-cool auntie here, but is it remotely normal to put an 18yo in a F1 car?... I know motorbike had like 16yo boys competing or something but that was also sounding alarming...
It’s happened before but it’s definitely not common! Max Verstappen entered F1 when he was 17 and after that, they made a rule where you have to be 18 to join F1. Exceptions can be made for any 17 year olds who show outstanding ability and maturity but I don’t think that has had to be used yet since the rule came into effect. This years’ class of rookies are particularly young in general - I think 4 or so out of 6 were born after Fernando Alonso made his F1 debut and he’s still hanging around hahah
Definitely! I think until Ferrari figure out their communication and strategy, they won’t be able to become Champions. McLaren had similar issues last year but they seem to have been able to figure it out over the winter!
